What it is

A bunion is a bony bump that forms at the base of the big toe as the joint shifts out of place. It tends to develop slowly over years, and shoes that press on it make it worse. We relieve the pain first and, when the bunion is advanced or keeps getting worse, correct the deformity.

Proudly serving neighboring communities of Del Rio, Eagle Pass, Carrizo Springs, Crystal City, and others.

Symptoms

  • A visible bump at the base of the big toe
  • Pain or soreness, especially in shoes
  • Redness or swelling over the joint
  • The big toe leaning toward the other toes

How we treat it

  • Footwear and padding recommendations for comfort
  • Custom orthotics to relieve pressure
  • Splints and other non-surgical relief
  • Surgical correction for painful or advanced bunions

Frequently asked questions

Do bunions always need surgery?
No. Many bunions are managed comfortably with footwear changes, padding, and orthotics. Surgery is for painful or worsening cases.
Will a bunion get worse over time?
They often do, slowly. Early care can keep you comfortable and may slow the progression.
What is recovery like if I need surgery?
It varies by procedure. We will walk you through exactly what to expect before you decide.
